June 1st Darlingtons Sunday Peoples Market

Blimey, I can't believe how long it has been since my last blog post. Must have been busy making LOL.

1st June it was our monthly street craft market in Darlington and the Sun shone nearly all day, with

laughter and smiles all around us. 

It was the day I had been waiting for to show off my new pendant designs on my new display stand I had made myself

This simple display is made from MDF

(being an ex carpenter, I am not overly chuffed with using this stuff but it's affordable) 

and painted a easy on the eye colour.

This display started off with only four shelves but at 5pm the evening before the market I decided it need more shelves. So, out with the router, saw and the PVA glue not forgetting the paint. Two hours later the final design was finished and loaded in to the car.

By mid afternoon I needed to stretch my legs so leaving my lovely Sue in charge, I had a little walk around. Catching up with people I knew like: Beryl from Guru,  Louise from U-Neek, The moody baker(garlic mushroom pasties are amazing) to name but a few. I also had a chance to see some new crafters/traders.

This next picture shows Gill and her crafts of Pink Crumble. The ethos of this trader was "Not For Profit". All the money she took from what she made and sold went to charities for the needy and homeless. I was and am so impressed with this. I really hope she done loads at the end of the day. 

And here is another new crafter, Steffi of Poly Pattered. Lovely colourful handmade jewellery. You really must see the colour of this jewellery in real life to appreciate it.

Fashion Jewellery, Earrings, Bracelets, Rings, Hair Clips and Pendants at Darlington Sunday Peoples Market

For all my readers that have not had chance to visit me at The Darlington Sunday Peoples Market.

To start with this first picture shows a collection of new designs and creations of Rings and Bracelets. 

The following pictures show off my design to the best of my photographic ability. 

I am always trying to show off my work to there best but I often cannot find display stands that I like or that I can afford. So the bracelet display is another creation of mine (being a ex worker, I enjoy doing things like this). All it took was a few scraps of MDF a bit of paint and my imagination to see the end product from a pile of unwanted bits and pieces.

This next picture shows the new large cabochon design Rings. They look great on another hand made bits of scrap Ring display stand. A couple of bits of perspex and a off cut of MDF plus some paint again and a bit of time and imagination again and there you go. A very cheap Ring stand to my requirements.

Here is a collected view of Rings, Hair Clips and a few Bracelets. 

And finally, me! The creator! I love making making almost anything especially when someone else like what I have made.  

And that was just a snippet of time at this lovely street market in Darlington on the first Sunday of every month, yes even the winter months.

If you decide to visit in the winter months wear thermals. lol. It's a great day any time of the year. Great atmosphere, lovely people and unique goods to get for yourself a friend or a loved one.

Darlington Sunday Peoples Market

Another great day at the Darlington Sunday Peoples Market. 

Lots of happy smiling people and the Sun shone and shone all day. 

This event is on every first Sunday of the month and is organised by the team at DSPM, brian has been our main contact and we just met Samantha, another key member of the team. Sorry I don't know the rest of the people by name. 

This event has been one of the best advertised and organised event I have done and really look forward to doing more of them, even in the cold winter months!

 It was about late morning and who should turn up. Two lovely friends of ours, Emj and Maz. Such lovely people. Although I got very nervous when Sue, Emj and Maz started to rearrange my pendants in there boxes. It did look better when they finished but I was like a cat on a hot tin roof. I can be quite protective of my creations.

Small Dichroic Glass Stud Earring Jewellery

As mentioned in a previous post, 

here are the Small Dichroic Glass Stud Earring Jewellery. 

These pictures were taken straight after firing in the kiln. To keep the cabochons on the small side I fired them without top glass. This gives a new dimension to the colours and designs. With blue's, green's, red's and multi-colours, they are going to look stunning when worn.

 These last four pairs are my favourites, although I really like them all. Its just how the colour and crinkled affect they have. Cant wait to see these on display at a show and see what other people think of them.

Large 1" + Dichroic Glass Cabochon Bracelets

Here are just a few of my latest designs. They are a silver plated bracelet set with a large dichroic glass cabochon. The glass measures over 1" in diameter. 

 I have been very busy in the studio this past week and have designed and made quite a few new pieces. Many of these will be listed on my website. And if you are in the Darlington area on the 7th October 2012 then come and see what the colours really look like in natural light.
